My First Student Teach!!!!

My first student teach was so nerve wrecking. I was so positive before class and I was telling myself, “it’s no big deal.” But once I got in front of the class it all changed. Boy, did I have butterflies in my stomach. I was worried about what my cooperating teacher and the students were thinking of me. As soon as I introduced my  material and had them identify verbs from the passage I had just read, I felt much better. I forgot to mention and do some things that I had planned out to do. I guess it was not as bad as I thought it would go be. I did get great feedback from my cooperating teacher and prof. B. I didn’t get offended or my feelings hurt when I got my feedback because I know in order to get better at this, I have to take every suggestion that they are given me. Besides, this is class to help me learn more about my abilities and to refine them as the semester progresses.

I have mixed feelings about my cooperating teacher because I feel that she sometimes does not care about helping me out. I try to appraoch her in so many ways but she seems to be very short with me or too busy. I like most of her strategies but so far that’s  about it.  Soon I need to do my short student teach video and i don’t feel comfortable not because of the students but because of the teacher. I try to stay positive and do my part.

First Day with Cooperating Teacher!

Wow! What a shocker! I really enjoyed my first observation with my cooperating teacher, Ms. N. Boy was I wrong about classroom management. My first view about teaching was all about being kind strict so that students will respect you. Today I learned that it is not like that, that we have to intergate discipline with friendship. That way you are creating a rapport with your students. Ms. N demonstrated her friendship in a very professional way. She also told me that she has them keep a portfolio so they can know and be more organized. To her, it is a way that they can get ready for when they go to college. Her activities were fun and it kept the students engaged at all times. I can not wait to continue my journey in her classroom and learning new techniques.

Working with my cooporating teacher

I cannot wait to work with my cooporating teacher. I have the need to get out there and start practicing my teaching tecniques. I am a little nervous but I am up to the challenge. I hope that the teacher I get is going to model some of the techniques I have been learning in class. I also hope to learn some new strtegies that have not been taught in class because these will be strategies designed just for my content area. All I can say is bring it on cooparating teacher.

My Observations!

I really liked my first observation class because it was in my content area. The teacher gave me some good advice for when I start teaching. I must say it’s a little intimidating to be around a teacher that has been teaching for a while. I hope I can be as good as they are or better. The class I went to observe last week was not something I would want my class to act like. They were too loud and rude. I definitely don’t think I can be that lenient.
